About the position

As an Electrical Engineer II for Cox Automotive, you will perform a variety of complex engineering duties to design, plan, and oversee the development of electric/electronic devices and systems applied to servicing EV batteries. This position independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Assignments have clear and specified objectives. This level requires developmental experience in a professional position or equivalent graduate-level education. You will receive instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions, with assistance provided on unusual problems. Your work will be reviewed for the application of professional judgment, and you may oversee or coordinate the work of drafters and technicians. In this role, you will design and test electrical circuits to support the testing and measurement of EV batteries. You will build prototypes and collaborate with the E-lab production team to construct and modify electronic devices. Documentation of wiring harnesses and diagrams will be a key responsibility, along with testing and debugging hardware and firmware. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of electric vehicle systems, making a significant impact on the automotive industry.

Responsibilities

  • Design and test electrical circuits to support test and measurement of EV batteries
  • Build prototypes and work with E-lab production team to build and modify electronic devices

  • Test and debug hardware and firmware

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 2 years' experience in a related field
  • Schematic capture or PCB design experience
  • Developmental experience in a professional position or equivalent graduate-level education

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in related discipline strongly desired such as Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • Hand soldering experience (PTH and SMT)
  • Test Equipment experience (Oscilloscope, Function Gen, Multimeter, etc.)
  • Experience with Cadsoft Eagle or Altium Designer
  • Knowledge of industry standard board design practices (IPC-2221A, UL-840, IEC-60950-1)
  • Experience with programming on embedded devices
  • Experience with CAN bus and RS-485
  • Experience with Power electronics design
  • Experience with mixed signal circuit design
  • Experience with Industrial instrumentation
  • Experience with Industrial automation
  • Machine shop experience (Lathe, Mill, Bandsaw)
  • Experience with AVR Microcontrollers
  • Experience with Impedance Spectroscopy
  • Experience with Lithium Batteries
