About the position

As an Electrical Engineer II at Collins Aerospace, you will be an integral part of the Computing Products Department (CPD), focusing on the development and sustainment of advanced avionics products. This role involves working on high-performance computing platforms, video and graphics processing modules, and high-bandwidth networking solutions that are essential for various military and commercial aircraft. You will engage in the design and development of digital hardware, applying electrical engineering principles to create robust solutions for mission-critical applications. Your responsibilities will span the entire hardware development lifecycle, from requirements capture and design to integration, verification, and production transition. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Systems, Software, Mechanical, and Environmental Effects Engineering, to ensure that all product requirements are met effectively. In this position, you will enhance your skills in designing complex printed circuit boards and embedded digital logic, gaining a deeper understanding of microprocessor technologies and memory solutions. You will also develop your problem-solving and critical thinking abilities as you manage unexpected challenges throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities

  • Engage in the development of digital hardware for high-performance computing products such as Mission Computers and aircraft Displays.
  • Apply electrical engineering principles to design, develop, document, verify, support, and troubleshoot digital hardware for avionics products.
  • Collaborate with Systems, Software, Mechanical, and Environmental Effects Engineering roles to ensure requirements are met across all phases of a product's lifecycle.
  • Participate in all phases of the hardware development lifecycle, including requirements capture, design, integration, verification, production transition, product sustainment, and customer interface.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field, or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is mandatory, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice-to-haves

  • FPGA development experience.
  • Experience with Ethernet, I2C, USB, LVDS, and SERDES bus technologies.
  • Testing experience in DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461.
  • Design tools experience for signal integrity and timing analysis.
  • Understanding of Design to Cost (DTC+), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Test (DFT).
  • Experience in requirements capture, tracing, and testability.
