About the position

Dorman Products is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to join their team in Colmar, PA. This role involves implementing and coordinating engineering projects to support product development and improvement. The engineer will be responsible for measuring, evaluating, and documenting product characteristics related to function, reliability, and quality, as well as conducting product validation and testing. The ideal candidate will be innovative and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate data and review product specifications for product feasibility.
  • Work with product line managers and purchasing to aid in the development of product utilizing reverse engineering best practices.
  • Produce product documentation that sufficiently identifies product dimensional and performance requirements.
  • Develop bench testing procedures and set-up for mock vehicle testing.
  • Direct, coordinate, or fabricate prototype product sample builds.
  • Work with product managers to plan and develop new product ideas.
  • Conduct Production Part Approval Process inspections.
  • Conduct/coordinate external and internal product testing.
  • Conduct product validation and testing.
  • Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional, reliability and quality requirements.
  • Confer with product team to prepare and implement design modifications.
  • Evaluate and summarize engineering information for marketing product presentations.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering and MS in Electrical Engineering or other advanced education.
  • 5+ years' experience in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience and testing products containing circuit board applications ranging from 10-30 components.
  • Experience with low component micro-processor applications.
  • Familiarity with multiple passive components, ICs, timer ICs, transistors, diodes, resistors, capacitors, inductors, Hall effect sensors, and stator coils.
  • Experienced with the use of power supplies, signal generators, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Familiar with IEEE standards.
  • Experience in cross-functional teams.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive and vehicle hardware is a plus.
  • Proficient in OrCad and P-Spice software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Access.
