About the position

The Asset Integrity Electrical Engineer position at The Mosaic Company provides technical expertise and leadership to implement and execute asset integrity strategies at one of the operating sites within North America. The role focuses on long-term asset health, sustaining gains, and delivering value to meet overall site operational goals. The engineer will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability teams to monitor asset reliability results, address issues, and provide subject matter expertise in electrical engineering and reliability improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Identify deficiencies in maintenance processes and develop sustainable improvements.
  • Apply and optimize PM/PdM activities to drive improvement in asset mean time between failures.
  • Provide prioritized asset assessments that support the 5-year capital planning process.
  • Track site-specific downtime to identify reliability improvement opportunities and utilize Root Cause Analysis processes to review failures and identify corrective actions.
  • Provide troubleshooting support to maintenance and operations, requiring process knowledge for effective problem solving.
  • Collaborate with maintenance planning teams to develop key field service maintenance scopes for regular maintenance and annual turnarounds.
  • Deploy and execute on asset strategies and monitor results to continually refine and improve asset health management.
  • Assist with supervision of field service contractors.
  • Interpret test results and ensure follow-up actions are tracked and completed.
  • Conduct audits and inspections.
  • Coordinate power system study activities and complete minor updates to power system models.
  • Review and authorize work permits and develop lock-out-tag-out plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Engineer I: 0+ years of related experience required; experience in related co-op or internship preferred.
  • Engineer II: 2+ years of related experience; demonstrated leadership skills and experience required.
  • Engineer III: 4+ years of related experience; demonstrated leadership skills and experience in multi-team roles required.
  • Engineer Senior: 8+ years of related experience; demonstrated leadership skills and experience leading cross-functional teams required.
  • P. Eng. designation required for Canadian locations.
  • Required for ALL Levels: MS Office products, CMMS (or similar software) experience; Maximo or SAP preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of management.
  • Working familiarity with RCA and FMEA.
  • Must demonstrate ability to influence others; requires strong leadership qualities, teamwork, and problem-solving/decision-making qualities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with operation and maintenance of high voltage switchgear, transformers, and other industrial electrical infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of power system protection and coordination.
  • Experience with underground mining power systems for potash sites.
  • Experience with power system modelling software tools (EasyPower is an asset).
  • Control system knowledge; experience with Rockwell, GE, or ABB PLC's and/or Delta-V, ABB 800xA, or Yokogawa DCS is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with instrumentation is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of National Electrical Code for US sites.
  • Working knowledge on Mine Safety and Health Administration electrical safety (MSHA) for US mining operations.
  • Knowledge of Predictive Technologies (vibration, IR, UE, MCA, oil analysis).
  • Facilitation experience with RCA and FME is an asset.
  • Development experience with PM procedures is an asset.
  • CMRP, CRE, CRL, or CSSBB certification is an asset.
