About the position

The Electrical Engineer position involves performing electrical engineering work that applies comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles across various assignments. The role focuses on designing new electrical systems, evaluating equipment for compliance, preparing technical documentation, and ensuring projects meet municipal and industry standards. The engineer will also troubleshoot electrical systems, conduct inspections, and provide technical support to maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the design of various new electrical systems relating to electrical power, control, and equipment.
  • Evaluates electrical equipment and electronic circuitry for compliance with design principles and industry standards.
  • Prepares sketches, drawings, cost estimates, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Maintains records of current and future projects, including budgetary analysis and work schedules.
  • Acts as a liaison with municipal agencies, utility companies, and contractors to ensure project compliance.
  • Responsible for the results of electrical engineering assignments related to power supplies and control schemes.
  • Gathers and analyzes information to provide solutions for non-routine projects.
  • Monitors and audits active projects for completeness and compliance.
  • Troubleshoots problems in electrical systems and recommends solutions.
  • Conducts inspections of equipment to ensure compliance with standards and codes.
  • Establishes energy savings analysis and tests field equipment for design and safety compliance.
  • Prepares reports on findings from inspections and tests.
  • Provides technical support to Facilities Maintenance and assists lower-level engineers and interns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Three years of experience related to electrical engineering or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Must be an Engineer intern, having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Must pass drug and alcohol testing as mandated by the Federal Transportation Administration.
