About the position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer II to join our MEP Business Practice at either our Colonie, NY; Rochester, NY; or Parsippany, NJ office location. The Electrical Engineer II will be responsible for the design work on diverse projects, including commercial and industrial buildings, power distribution systems, lighting systems, fire alarm, and communication systems. This role requires proficiency with design software, specifically Revit and AutoCAD, and the ability to decipher building codes. Clear and concise communication is essential as the Electrical Engineer II will interface with both internal and external clients throughout their projects. The position demands basic problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Our team consists of industry leaders with hands-on experience in industrial settings, providing complete mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering and design/construction services for various clients. The Electrical Engineer II will play a crucial role in analyzing systems and optimizing performance, contributing to our mission of reducing environmental footprints and delivering greener solutions to our clients. Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for commercial and industrial buildings, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and communication systems.
  • Utilize design software such as Revit and AutoCAD to create detailed engineering designs.
  • Analyze existing systems and recommend optimizations for performance and energy efficiency.
  • Interface with internal and external clients to communicate project progress and requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure project goals are met and quality standards are upheld.
  • Assist in the interpretation of building codes and regulations as they apply to electrical engineering projects.
  • Participate in QA/QC procedures to ensure the integrity of engineering designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related Engineering experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering, computational, and modeling software, specifically Revit & AutoCAD; knowledge of light design software (e.g., Visual, AGi) is a plus.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge in the respective engineering field.
  • Basic understanding of building code is a plus.
  • Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn about the respective engineering discipline.
  • Familiar with QA/QC procedures.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences.
  • Desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist more senior staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of light design software (e.g., Visual, AGi) is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of building codes is a plus.
