The Power Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our substation and distribution system throughout the facility. This position involves coordinating both short and long-term strategies to maintain operational integrity. The Power Engineer will assist in root cause analysis, determining and implementing corrective actions, and developing specifications for equipment and projects. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for training plant personnel on all systems within our medium and high voltage distribution network. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings or other structures. Reliability, responsibility, and a commitment to fulfilling obligations are essential traits for this role. The candidate should also have a solid understanding of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. A foundational knowledge of electrical theory, including troubleshooting, installation, repair, and maintenance of electronic equipment, is also required. Furthermore, the Power Engineer should demonstrate the practical application of engineering science and technology, applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the tasks at hand. Proactivity in seeking out work that needs to be done, along with a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges, is vital. The ability to identify problems and analyze related information to develop and evaluate options for the most appropriate solutions is crucial. The candidate must be able to work efficiently with minimal oversight, as safety is the most important aspect of all jobs within Nucor.
