About the position

The Electrical Engineer II at EDG Inc. is responsible for the development and implementation of all electrical design requirements for various projects in the oil and gas industry. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of power generation, distribution, protection, and related control systems, as well as familiarity with client specifications and applicable industry codes and standards. The Electrical Engineer will coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure an integrated design that meets project requirements. Key responsibilities include designing electrical power generation and distribution systems for both offshore and onshore projects, preparing and reviewing specifications and datasheets for electrical equipment, and conducting system calculations using software such as ETAP or SKM. The engineer will also prepare construction drawings, project specifications, and layouts for electrical facilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Additionally, the role involves providing engineering support for procurement, assisting field engineering teams during construction, and participating in the testing and commissioning of electrical systems. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with multi-discipline teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. The Electrical Engineer II will also be involved in preparing project cost estimates and supporting the overall project lifecycle from design through to commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical power generation, distribution, protection, and related control systems for offshore and onshore projects.
  • Prepare and review electrical generation, distribution, rotating, communications, and control equipment specifications and datasheets.
  • Conduct electrical system calculations utilizing ETAP or SKM.
  • Prepare and review construction drawings depicting equipment locations, wiring, tray layouts, equipment installation, lighting, grounding, etc.
  • Prepare and review project/client specifications and requirements; provide alternatives and recommendations as required.
  • Prepare and review layouts and plans for electrical buildings and facilities.
  • Prepare and review AC and DC load lists from mechanical equipment lists and control systems documents.
  • Prepare and review DC and UPS distribution systems.
  • Prepare and review electrical drawings and construction packages.
  • Prepare and review Electrical Area Classification drawings.
  • Prepare and review test and commissioning procedures.
  • Prepare and review electrical fabrication and construction details.
  • Provide support for the preparation of Pre-FEED and FEED cost estimates.
  • Provide engineering support to procurement of equipment, skidded packages, and buildings.
  • Support and assist field engineering teams during construction, test, and commissioning.
  • Test and commission packages and electrical systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • E.I.T. designation from a U.S. based state licensing board for candidates with degrees from outside the U.S.
  • More than one (1) but less than five (5) years of demonstrated experience designing and implementing electrical power generation and distribution systems for the offshore oil and gas industry, onshore gas processing, hydrocarbon storage and transportation, chemical manufacturing, or refining.
  • Demonstrated experience working within project-centered multi-discipline teams.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing project cost estimates.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing specifications for procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning of electrical generation, distribution, rotating, communication, and control equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ANSI/NEMA/NFPA/API/UL/IEEE codes and standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IEC standards and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience leading factory acceptance testing of package equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience providing engineering support to construction, testing, commissioning, and startup of electrical facilities.
