About the position

The Electrical Engineer II position at our custom machine building company is a critical role responsible for designing control systems for industrial automation machines tailored to meet specific customer requirements. This position involves a comprehensive range of tasks, including the production of electrical schematics, the creation of Bills of Materials (BOMs), and the selection of essential components such as sensors, motors, drives, and PLCs. The successful candidate will also be responsible for programming Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), PLCs, and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), as well as performing equipment verification tests to ensure functionality and compliance with specifications. In this role, the engineer will layout and wire components within control panels, mount sensors, and route cables for automated machines. Attention to detail is paramount, as the engineer will need to ensure that all designs meet industry standards, particularly UL508A. The position also requires collaboration with team members to provide guidance and support, especially to less experienced engineers and technicians. The Electrical Engineer II will work closely with customers to interpret their requirements, whether through direct communication or written specifications, and will submit electrical design packages for approval. Participation in design reviews is essential, as is the analysis of test data to confirm that designs meet functional and performance specifications. The engineer will also be responsible for overseeing the assembly of control panels and wiring of machines, providing technical support for existing and new equipment installations, and identifying opportunities for equipment improvements that enhance safety, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
