About the position

The Electrical Engineer III - Network at Sierra Space is responsible for researching, designing, developing, testing, certifying, deploying, and improving advanced electronic systems and products. This role focuses on network-related projects within the Networking and Instrumentation group, requiring collaboration across teams to address data needs, sensor selections, data architecture, and network testing. The engineer will work on system-level projects from inception to completion, contributing to the company's mission of transforming humanity through technology and imagination.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy, and improve electronic systems and products.
  • Conceptualize and design new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Work collaboratively across teams to derive data needs and select sensors and instrumentation.
  • Perform calibrations and data analysis, verification, and validation of hardware and data collection methods.
  • Develop and integrate custom network hardware and conduct network testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Typically 6 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools.
  • Familiarity with working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  • Experience with Data Acquisition System architecture.
  • Experience with Data Recording.
  • Practical knowledge of Ethernet Network Protocols.
  • Experience in IRIG 106 Chapters 9, 10, 11.
  • Experience in programming languages such as Visual Basic and Python.
  • Experience with hardware testing, development, qualification, and supplier management.
  • Knowledge of requirements management and systems design principles.
