AECOM is looking for a mid-level Electrical Engineer to join our Rail and Transit team at our Oakland, CA Office. The candidate will be responsible for producing electrical and traction power construction documents for transit systems and facilities such as BART and Caltrain. Under the supervision of a Senior Engineer, you will work collaboratively with a team of Engineers and Specialists across various rail systems disciplines, including systems engineering, signals, electrification systems, and project controls. This role involves working closely with project managers, systems engineers, signals engineers, analysts, and coordinators to ensure the successful delivery of projects. The primary role of this position is to prepare design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies associated with traction power and facilities for electrified railways AC and DC systems, as well as other transportation-related projects. You will ensure that all design elements comply with relevant rail operation rules, applicable industry codes and standards, and client expectations. Additionally, you will prepare and guide drafters/designers and junior engineers in creating one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing drawings, substation physical layouts, and selection of MV/LV electrical equipment. Interaction with clients is a key aspect of this role, as you will discuss technical topics in a clear and professional manner and facilitate the resolution of customer expectations versus technical issues. You will need to work with tight schedules, be flexible, control project budgets, and motivate junior staff. Other duties may be assigned as required, making this a dynamic and engaging position within the AECOM team.
