We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer III to join LDIS LLC, a Tetra Tech Company, which specializes in integrated engineering and design solutions across various sectors including Energy, Petrochemicals, Renewables, Water Treatment, and Life Sciences. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the design and implementation of electrical systems, focusing on developing robust power distribution systems within a project team. You will have the opportunity to lead a discipline engineering team, supervise design personnel, and serve as the lead engineer or technical expert on small to medium projects. Your responsibilities will include reviewing designs, assisting in the development of design guides, and managing engineering activities while maintaining project schedules and budgets. You will also perform power engineering tasks and calculations for various industrial facilities, support specification development, and mentor less experienced engineers and designers. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, the ability to create and interpret One-Line Diagrams and Control Schematics, and proficiency in various engineering tools and software. You will be expected to maintain professionalism in your relationships with team members and clients, and effectively communicate technical information. Additionally, site visits may be required to observe construction and operation, and travel may be necessary when requested.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a discipline engineering team on projects with some guidance.
  • Supervise design personnel and other staff specialists.
  • Review and check designs; assist in the development of design guides, specifications, and control procedures.
  • Serve as the lead Engineer or technical expert on small to medium projects.
  • Plan and manage engineering activities on a project.
  • Maintain and comment on the schedule and budget of assigned projects.
  • Perform power engineering tasks and calculations for processing and heavy industrial facilities.
  • Support specification development and research for distribution switchgear, MCCs, panels, motor starters/VFDs, etc.
  • Competent in Oneline and panel schedule development, cable tray/conduit layout, and fill calculations.
  • Vendor submittal review and develop wiring diagrams based on vendor drawings.
  • Review work for discrepancies or inconsistencies.
  • Track details of work to discuss with supervisor.
  • Research and resolve issues with all available tools.
  • Develop and improve technical knowledge and skills.
  • Maintain professionalism in relationships with other office and team members.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers, designers, and drafters.
  • Plan communication strategies and present information effectively.
  • Seek out company and client technical standards and implement them on projects.
  • Constructively build and maintain relationships with others on the project design team.
  • Make site visits to observe during construction and operation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar ABET accredited engineering degree.
  • 7-10 years' experience in electrical engineering.
  • Coursework in power engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification required.
  • PE preferred in home state.
  • NCEES Registration.
  • Working understanding of the National Electrical Code and NFPA70E.
  • Ability to create and understand One-Line Diagrams and Control Schematics.
  • Proficient knowledge of symmetrical components, fault current calculations, and machine theory.
  • Ability to work with supervisor to effectively complete routine tasks.
  • Capable of breaking a task into one or more component parts and sequencing those parts effectively.
  • Execute practical and constructable design solutions.
  • Solid understanding of the scope, schedule, and budget assigned for engineering tasks.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with more experienced electrical engineers.
  • Efficiently execute design from concept through completion.
  • Ability to logically organize work and delegate tasks to junior team members.
  • Collaborate with electrical and other discipline team members on various projects.
  • Ability to offer suggestions and corrections on organization and planning issues.
  • Productively work through conflict to keep tasks moving forward.
  • Familiar with the business of electrical engineering as well as the technical design issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that are well organized and persuasive.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, such as Word and Excel.
