About the position

The Electrical Engineer in Training position at Stantec offers an opportunity for recent graduates to join a dynamic team focused on innovative electrical, instrumentation, and control projects. This role emphasizes collaboration with engineering and technical design teams to contribute to impactful projects while fostering professional growth in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate contract drawings, specifications, and sketches from initial design to construction.
  • Collaborate with EI&C group members, other Stantec disciplines, and clients to achieve project success.
  • Contribute to varied project design teams.
  • Conduct field surveys, site reviews, and develop as-recorded drawings.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and project teams.
  • Understand and apply the Canadian Electrical Code and National Electrical Code to electrical design projects.
  • Contribute to electrical, instrumentation, and control designs, construction cost estimates, and equipment specifications.
  • Assemble electrical and controls installation work packages for electrical contractors.
  • Assist the design team in completing fundamental engineering tasks and conducting engineering design calculations.
  • Aid in internal efforts to improve department operations, such as creating new tools, progressing new work methods, and advancing internal projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Eligibility for registration as a professional engineer in either the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick or Engineers Nova Scotia.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
  • Ability to solve problems using professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under and meet tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of the importance of complying with Stantec's Employee Health and Safety (EH&S) program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to construction or consulting in industrial and utility environments (e.g., wood products, pulp & paper, food, power generation/distribution, oil & gas, mining).
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
