About the position

The position is for a Mid to Senior level Electrical Engineer at Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering, based in Lone Tree, Colorado. The role involves designing electrical systems for various industrial projects, including water treatment and manufacturing facilities. The successful candidate will work on complex projects, utilizing their expertise in electrical engineering design, particularly with ETAP and relay coordination, while contributing to a strong team culture focused on innovation and sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical engineering designs, including layout, design schematics, calculations, and conceptual designs.
• Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to design medium to large industrial projects.
• Formulate technical specifications and prepare interface points with construction partners.
• Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with other project personnel, performing bid evaluations of equipment and construction proposals and developing recommendations for contract award.
• Review electrical requirements for new facilities and project plans.
• Perform ETP analysis and simulation, system modeling, protection coordination, reliability studies, load flow studies, and grounding integrity.
• Utilize SmartPlant for balance of plant electrical systems design.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and Kiewit guidelines.
• Work independently on small projects, or as part of a large multi-discipline team on larger projects.
• Support RFP, Pre-Feed, FEED, D/B, and EPC projects for electrical designs across multiple markets.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited four-year college or university and EIT license is required.
• At least 5 years' experience performing Electrical engineering design for Industrial facilities.
• Experience with ETAP simulation/analysis is required; expertise in relay coordination is highly desired.
• Experience with SmartPlant, or similar software for design is preferred, or willingness to obtain.
• Experience with FEED, D/B, EPC designs, familiar with 30/60/90% completion design progression.
• Experience in field construction or startup and previous experience directing junior engineers is desirable.

• PE preferred, or willingness to obtain.
• Experience in diverse industrial sectors such as Chemical plants, Mining/Mineral Processing, Power, Water/Wastewater, Processing plants, Advanced manufacturing plants, data centers, EV Battery.
