About the position

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a Senior Level Electrical Engineer to join our Seattle or Federal Way office, specializing in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects. This role involves working with cutting-edge technologies and developing industries, particularly in microgrids and offshore wind port projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing multiple or complex plans, designs, and plan production for general electrical engineering across a variety of projects. These projects may include lighting, power, and grounding plans, one-line diagrams, panel and cable schedules, and various project specifications. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will collaborate closely with Project Managers and electrical teammates to complete intricate electrical designs that support firm-wide projects. Your responsibilities will encompass providing detailed design calculations, design drawings, and project specifications for medium/low voltage power distribution systems, microgrids, lighting systems, lightning protection systems, grounding systems, communications systems, control systems, and electrical equipment design, including switchboards and switchgear. You will also conduct electrical calculations, selective coordination, and arc flash studies, prepare large contract documents, studies, and cost estimates, and perform submittal reviews and construction observations for electrical work on projects. Additionally, you will assist in the company's Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes. Responsibilities

  • Completes multiple or complex electrical designs to support firm-wide projects by working with Project Managers and electrical teammates.
  • Provides multiple or complex design calculations, design drawings, and project specifications for medium/low voltage power distribution systems.
  • Designs microgrids and projects in the offshore wind industry.
  • Develops lighting systems, lightning protection systems, grounding systems, communications systems, and control systems.
  • Designs electrical equipment including switchboards and switchgear.
  • Conducts electrical calculations, selective coordination, and arc flash studies.
  • Prepares detailed large contract documents, studies, and cost estimates.
  • Performs submittal reviews and construction observations for electrical work on projects.
  • Assists in companywide Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; required
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering; preferred
  • Professional Engineer License (PE) in Electrical Engineering; required
  • 10+ years of related experience in medium/low voltage power distribution systems, grounding systems, lighting systems, communications systems, electrical equipment design, selective coordination, and arc flash studies; required
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit; required
  • Proficiency in ETAP or EasyPower and AGI32; preferred
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check in compliance with NIST 800-171.
