About the position

The Electrical Engineer for the Inter-Satellite Link Avionics team at Amazon's Project Kuiper will focus on designing electrical functions for a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites aimed at providing broadband connectivity. This role involves leading tasks related to board design, component selection, layout review, and testing, while ensuring high-quality and innovative designs. The engineer will collaborate with various technical teams and work autonomously to solve complex problems in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead board design and component selection for electrical functions.
• Conduct layout reviews and board bring-up and testing.
• Ensure high quality and innovative designs for satellite systems.
• Collaborate with multiple spacecraft design and integration teams.
• Support colleagues in reviewing and improving electrical designs.

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in hardware development across the full product life cycle in relevant fields.
• Experience with PCB design and debugging, including microprocessors and sensors.
• Experience with complex board designs and high-speed interconnects.
• Proficiency with schematic and layout ECAD tools.

Nice-to-haves

• M.S. or PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• Experience in development and testing of satellite bus systems.
• Experience with integration of systems into aerospace/avionics enclosures.
• Electronics design experience in radiation environments.
• Experience with low-level firmware development and integration.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python or C/C++.
• Experience with Mentor Xpedition or other Mentor ECAD tools.
