About the position
The Electrical Engineer Intern/Co-op position at CMTA offers college students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in electrical design within the consulting engineering field. This full-time, onsite role allows interns to work closely with professional engineers, learning to design and implement electrical systems for various building projects. The internship is designed to build industry-relevant skills while contributing to real projects, with the potential for future employment after graduation.
Responsibilities
- Learn and implement the basics of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting & controls, and fire alarm systems for new constructions and renovations.
- Produce detailed layouts and equipment details of electrical systems in buildings.
- Create one-line diagrams and schematics.
- Assist the design team in assembling organized sets of drawings.
- Support data collection and field verification efforts.
- Collaborate with designers and engineers to develop all aspects of a project.
Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering, preferably a sophomore or junior.
- Strong interest in Building Systems Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Availability to work full-time in the Framingham, MA office during the co-op term.
- Willingness to travel locally for job site inspections and field work.
