About the position

As an Electrical Engineer Intern at Black & Veatch, you will play a crucial role in addressing some of the world's most pressing infrastructure challenges. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects that cater to our clients' needs, contributing to the growth and success of Black & Veatch. You will be assigned to a functional area that may include Substation, Transmission, Distribution, Power System Studies, Renewables, Conventional Generation, Gas Fuels and Chemicals, Nuclear, Mining, Water/Wastewater, Telecom/Electric Vehicle Charging, or Data Centers. This hands-on experience will allow you to engage with real-world engineering problems and develop practical solutions. The internship program is designed to provide you with valuable learning opportunities through mentorship and co/lab trainings. You will have the chance to network with leading experts in the industry, gaining insights and knowledge that will be beneficial for your future career. The hybrid work model allows for a balance between in-person collaboration and remote work, providing flexibility while ensuring you remain connected with your team and projects. In this role, you will assist in the development of electrical engineering deliverables, including reports, drawings, specifications, and studies. You will also engage in engineering analyses, designs, and report production, collaborating with other disciplines to ensure timely project deliverables. Your ability to organize and evaluate data, utilizing computer modeling to analyze systems, will be essential. Additionally, you will be responsible for organizing project materials, references, and documentation, ensuring that all aspects of the project are well-coordinated and accessible.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of electrical engineering deliverables like reports, drawings, specifications, and studies.
  • Assist with the engineering analyses, designs, and report production.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and schedule project deliverables.
  • Organize and evaluate data, utilizing computer modeling to analyze systems.
  • Organize project materials, references, and documentation.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an ABET accredited university in Electrical Engineering program.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including background checks and drug screening.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant coursework or knowledge in Power Systems, Motors, Transformers, Renewable Energy, Power Delivery, or Three Phase Power Calculations.
  • Understanding of engineering design principles and design guides.
  • Problem-solving skills, effective written communication, and the ability to build relationships.
