About the position

As an Electrical Engineer Intern at Black & Veatch, you will play a crucial role in addressing some of the world's most pressing infrastructure challenges. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects that cater to our clients' needs, contributing to the growth and success of Black & Veatch. You will be assigned to a functional area that may include Substation, Transmission, Distribution, Power System Studies, Renewables, Conventional Generation, Gas Fuels and Chemicals, Nuclear, Mining, Water/Wastewater, Telecom/Electric Vehicle Charging, or Data Centers. This position is designed for students currently enrolled in an ABET accredited university in an Electrical Engineering program, providing hands-on experience in an employee-owned engineering, procurement, consulting, and construction company. The internship program is structured to provide learning opportunities through mentorship and co/lab trainings, allowing you to network with leading experts in the industry. You will assist in the development of electrical engineering deliverables such as reports, drawings, specifications, and studies, while also engaging in engineering analyses, designs, and report production. Collaboration with other disciplines will be essential as you work to schedule project deliverables and organize project materials, references, and documentation. This role is ideal for those looking to gain practical experience in the field of electrical engineering while contributing to impactful projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of electrical engineering deliverables like reports, drawings, specifications, and studies.
  • Assist with the engineering analyses, designs, and report production.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and schedule project deliverables.
  • Organize and evaluate data, utilizing computer modeling to analyze systems.
  • Organize project materials, references, and documentation.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an ABET accredited university in Electrical Engineering program.
  • No prior experience required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant coursework or knowledge in Power Systems, Motors, Transformers, Renewable Energy, Power Delivery, or Three Phase Power Calculations.
  • Understanding of engineering design principles and design guides.
  • Problem-solving skills, effective written communication, and the ability to build relationships.
