About the position

As an Electrical Engineer Intern at Black & Veatch, you will help address some of the world's most pressing infrastructure challenges. This internship provides a unique opportunity to work on a wide range of projects that meet our clients' needs and contribute to the growth and success of Black & Veatch. You will be assigned to a functional area that may include Substation, Transmission, Distribution, Power System Studies, Renewables, Conventional Generation, Gas Fuels and Chemicals, Nuclear, Mining, Water/Wastewater, Telecom/Electric Vehicle Charging, or Data Centers. This role is designed for students currently enrolled in an ABET accredited university in an Electrical Engineering program, allowing you to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive environment. The internship program is structured to provide learning opportunities through mentorship and co/lab trainings, as well as networking opportunities with leading experts in the industry. You will assist in the development of electrical engineering deliverables such as reports, drawings, specifications, and studies, while also collaborating with other disciplines to ensure timely project deliverables. This role will require you to organize and evaluate data, utilizing computer modeling to analyze systems, and manage project materials, references, and documentation effectively. This position is ideal for those looking to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting and gain valuable insights into the engineering field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of electrical engineering deliverables like reports, drawings, specifications, and studies.
  • Assist with the engineering analyses, designs, and report production.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and schedule project deliverables.
  • Organize and evaluate data, utilizing computer modeling to analyze systems.
  • Organize project materials, references, and documentation.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an ABET accredited university in Electrical Engineering program.
  • No prior experience required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant coursework or knowledge in Power Systems, Motors, Transformers, Renewable Energy, Power Delivery, or Three Phase Power Calculations.
  • Understanding of engineering design principles and design guides.
  • Problem-solving skills, effective written communication, and the ability to build relationships.
