About the position

This internship is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the engineering design lifecycle, particularly in the field of electrical engineering. You will be paired with a mentor who is a degreed and licensed electrical engineer, guiding you through various engineering support assignments that require foundational knowledge of electrical circuits, design standards, and construction practices. Throughout your internship, you will participate in the Parsons Early Talent Program, which offers opportunities to interact with fellow interns from different disciplines and senior management. This program is aimed at enhancing your professional growth and networking within the organization. You will engage in activities that will help you develop practical knowledge of electromechanical equipment, facilities, and systems, as well as their interrelationships with other engineering disciplines such as telecommunications, architecture, mechanical, civil, and fire protection. Your responsibilities will include taking and understanding engineering notes, specifications, and rough sketches, and formalizing them into working drawings. This hands-on experience will be invaluable as you learn about the role of electrical engineers at Parsons and how they contribute to the success of various projects. The internship is located in either San Antonio, TX, or Pasadena, CA, and is an excellent opportunity for students who are passionate about engineering and eager to learn in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the Parsons Early Talent Program and interact with interns from various disciplines and senior management.
  • Work under the direction of a licensed electrical engineer on engineering support assignments.
  • Take and understand engineering notes, specifications, and rough sketches.
  • Formalize engineering notes into working drawings.
  • Develop practical knowledge of electromechanical equipment, facilities, and systems.
  • Gain insight into the engineering design lifecycle and the role of electrical engineers.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible for a government security clearance requiring proof of US citizenship.
  • Must be enrolled in an Engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university and have completed at least two years of studies in electrical engineering.
  • Experience with applied electrotechnology, power analysis, devices, circuits, and systems.
  • Working knowledge of CAD, AutoCAD / Revit® preferred.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Major GPA greater than 3.0.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
