About the position

The Electrical Engineer Intern position at Peabody is part of the 2025 Internship Program aimed at providing engineering students with hands-on experience in the electrical engineering field. Interns will support Peabody's mission and values while gaining practical skills in troubleshooting and maintaining electrical equipment in a mining environment. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and innovation, offering a solid foundation for future career advancement in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Visibly support and champion Peabody's Mission and Values.
  • Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System.
  • Repair and troubleshoot preparation plant and surface mining equipment including power distribution equipment, motors, motor controls, instrumentation, and electric dragline.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting from blueprints and service manuals and execute the required repairs.
  • Maintain electrical equipment in permissible condition as defined by MSHA and complete reports and records as required.
  • Conduct safety observations and participate in safety audits.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Company.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.
  • Excellent communication, technical, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; energy; initiative; innovation; organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Past work experiences as a summer intern is a plus.
  • Candidates must be geographically mobile.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products.
