About the position

As an Electrical Engineering Intern for the summer of 2025 at Oshkosh Defense, you will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced Electrical Engineers on various projects that will enhance your knowledge and skills in the field of engineering. This internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in the design and integration of vehicle control and embedded systems development, allowing you to make a tangible impact on the world around you. You will be involved in selecting parts and components for quality-conscious designs, taking into account factors such as weight, cost, reliability, and ease of manufacturing. In addition to design work, you will utilize 3D modeling software, such as CATIA and/or SolidWorks, integrated with analytical circuit software to develop wire harnesses for trucks. Your role will also include following projects on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production builds, where you will provide technical assistance as needed. You will be responsible for generating bills of materials and consulting with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to various engineering problems. This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in a leading tactical vehicle manufacturing company, while also contributing to the mission of supporting those who protect others.

Responsibilities

  • Support Electrical Engineers in the design and integration of vehicle control/embedded systems development
  • Select parts or components for quality conscious design, considering weight, cost, reliability, and ease of manufacturing
  • Use 3D modeling software (CATIA and/or SolidWorks) integrated with analytical circuit software to develop wire harnesses for trucks
  • Follow projects on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production builds and provide technical assistance
  • Generate bill of materials
  • Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to problems

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related degree
  • Willingness to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, WI for the duration of the summer 2025 internship
