About the position

The Electrical Engineer position focuses on providing engineering support for manufacturing processes within the metals industry, specifically in a Tennessee facility. The role involves troubleshooting and improving electrical controls, automation communication, and power distribution systems, while also managing capital projects and maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support to maintenance and operations.
  • Support safety and restore product flow.
  • Provide technical solutions to recurring design and process problems.
  • Analyze equipment and process data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop solutions and system improvements to address identified opportunities.
  • Manage and implement capital projects and major repairs.
  • Provide process engineering support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college/university.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in an electrical engineering field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with working knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles.
  • Experience with ladder logic and programming/troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Experience specifying, installing, and troubleshooting DC and AC motor drives systems.
  • Experience with networking equipment, installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
  • Experience with power distribution systems.
  • Manufacturing experience in the metals or similar industry.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Rockwell and Allen Bradley PLCs.
  • Experience with rolling mills and mill controls, shears, strip processing, and coiling.
  • Experience with metal process furnaces or casting equipment.
  • Previous experience with data acquisition systems and data analytics.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
