About the position

The Electrical Engineer for Mission Critical projects will play a pivotal role in the design and technical systems for large, complex projects, guiding them from initial schematics through to construction administration. This position requires a deep understanding of various electrical engineering disciplines, including power distribution, lighting and controls, fire alarm systems, and energy conservation. The engineer will be responsible for developing building system concepts and ensuring that documentation processes are adhered to throughout the project lifecycle. Regular coordination with the project supervisor is expected to ensure project development aligns with performance goals. In this role, the Electrical Engineer will function as the Project Discipline Team Leader on large projects, overseeing and directing project team members within their discipline. This includes monitoring compliance with project budgets and preparing project status reports. The engineer will also collaborate with the Electrical Engineering Discipline Leader to prepare project man-hour estimates and conduct necessary code research. A critical aspect of the role involves developing and maintaining the Electrical Basis of Design Journal throughout the project, conducting material and product research, and actively participating in project meetings. Beyond project-related duties, the Electrical Engineer will mentor support engineers, providing them with the guidance needed to prepare for greater responsibilities. Regular feedback will be provided to the Electrical Engineering Discipline Leader regarding the performance of support engineers. The engineer will also identify opportunities for quality improvement and participate in in-house training activities, contributing to professional organizations and discussions on new technologies and developments in the field.
