About the position

As an Electrical Engineer in the Mobile Robotics sector at Oceaneering, you will be a vital member of the New Product Introduction team, responsible for implementing and maintaining innovative product and service offerings. This role combines the fast-paced environment of a startup with the stability of a large company, focusing on robotics technologies and cross-disciplinary engineering to enhance automation in challenging environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical engineering duties necessary for OMR New Product Introduction, including design modifications to existing equipment and design of test equipment.
  • Participate in operational risk assessments and prepare scopes of supply.
  • Provide cost and labor estimates for proposals and perform project-specific analyses and calculations.
  • Work closely with Mechanical and Manufacturing teams to build and test first article units.
  • Support the integration, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems in Mobile Robot products and peripherals with multi-disciplined teams.
  • Troubleshoot production and field issues through root cause analysis and testing, proposing pragmatic solutions.
  • Prepare and participate in design reviews, mentoring other engineers and providing technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Travel up to 20% to Oceaneering manufacturing facilities, other OMR international offices, and customer sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field with an Electrical concentration.
  • Minimum 7 years of practical technical experience in production implementation and maintenance of engineering products.
  • Proficiency in using standard electronic test equipment such as DMM/multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Proficiency with advanced CAD packages like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, EPLAN, and Altium.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in revision control procedures and regulatory requirements (CE, ANSI, UL, EMC).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with cable harness routing and design, and PCB design.
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Robotics systems experience.
  • Functional safety experience.
  • Controls engineering experience, including implementation of control loops, tuning, and troubleshooting.
