About the position

The Electrical Engineer NS&E position at Industrial Staffing Services Inc. is a full-time role based in Richland, Washington, focused on the engineering design of high-level waste (HLW) electrical systems and equipment for the Hanford Vit Plant project. This project is significant as it aims to transform radioactive and chemical waste from historical plutonium production into a safe form for disposal, thereby protecting the Columbia River and surrounding communities. The role requires a full-time presence in the project office, adhering to a 9/80 work schedule that provides every other Friday off, allowing for a better work-life balance. As an Electrical Engineer, you will engage in various engineering activities, including the preparation of design documents for procurement and construction. This involves utilizing software tools such as SETROUTE, BlockDraw, and ETAP to create detailed electrical designs. You will be responsible for interpreting and applying relevant codes and standards to ensure compliance in all electrical design documents, specifications, and material requisitions. The position demands a strong understanding of electrical discipline drawings, including wiring diagrams, control logic diagrams, and system calculations, as well as the ability to size and specify electrical equipment accurately. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter capable of independent creative design while collaborating effectively with other engineering disciplines and project teams. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will need to work closely with various stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of the project. Additionally, familiarity with electronic Cable Management Systems, particularly the SETROUTE program, is crucial for this role, as you will be expected to manage and update the database accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering design for HLW electrical systems and equipment for the facility.
  • Utilize SETROUTE, BlockDraw, and ETAP for HLW design.
  • Interpret and apply codes & standards to electrical design documents.
  • Conduct special tasks and calculations/studies as required.
  • Perform cable sizing calculations and specify electrical equipment.
  • Collaborate effectively with other engineering disciplines and project teams.
  • Manage and update the electronic Cable Management System database.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 3 years of related electrical engineering experience.
  • Ability to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
  • FE/EIT Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing documentation for Conceptual, Preliminary, and Final Design.
  • Working knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
