About the position

Pure Power Engineering is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their Owners Engineering group, focusing on providing nationwide engineering services for commercial and utility scale solar PV and energy storage projects. The role involves technical due diligence, energy modeling, development engineering, and field engineering, ensuring client success and maximum profitability through expert risk management and delivery support throughout project phases.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical due diligence on designs by third party EORs and in-house projects.
  • Review drawings, reports, RFIs, submittals, and contracts, issuing comments to customers.
  • Evaluate technology and assess risks, creating reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Consult on technical and financial risks for customer projects.
  • Collaborate with installers/contractors to address identified issues.
  • Generate PVsyst models and evaluate third-party models and performance guarantee calculations.
  • Gather and analyze actual performance data, including PR and ASTM capacity tests.
  • Plan and conceptualize designs, interconnections, and equipment selection.
  • Conduct on-site visual inspections for workmanship and compliance (less than 5% of time).
  • Monitor construction progress and report on quality control issues.
  • Elevate technical capabilities within the organization and develop training programs.
  • Manage relationships with project stakeholders and execute multiple projects in various stages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • 2+ years' experience in solar engineering and the PV industry.
  • Experience in commercial and utility scale solar PV.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and PVsyst.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical clients.

Nice-to-haves

  • MS in electrical engineering or related discipline.
  • NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certificate.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license.
  • Medium Voltage engineering experience.
  • Experience designing energy storage systems.
  • Hands-on experience commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting solar PV systems.
