About the position

The Electrical Engineer in Packaging Innovation at Amazon is responsible for designing automated packaging platforms and supporting systems to enhance delivery efficiency. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine packaging machinery and automation systems, ensuring that projects meet technical, cost, and timeline objectives while adhering to safety and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional engineers to design and execute packaging machinery and automation projects
• Execute the electrical design workstreams including panel design, motor & drive sizing, electrical load calculations, system I/O architecture and layout, and wireway placement
• Deliver engineering workstreams including panel design and layout, power calculations, safety analysis, and compliance with regulations
• Ensure project documentation is complete and scalable for manufacturing
• Support the project team in the safety certification of the project/platform
• Participate in meetings to optimize for customer experience, supply chain, and sustainability

Requirements

• 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
• Experience with prototyping and implementation
• BA in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
• 4+ years working in industrial machinery design experience
• Knowledge of certification requirements (UL, CSA, CE)
• Industrial programming experience (HMI, PLC, Motion)

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools
• Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
• Operations experience in a manufacturing environment
