About the position

Clark Nexsen is seeking an Electrical Engineer - Power and Energy to join their Energy Consulting Team, focusing on energy performance and sustainability in the built environment. The role involves leading electrical engineering design projects related to decarbonization, renewable energy, and energy efficiency, with responsibilities that include overseeing multi-discipline energy design projects and ensuring quality control in electrical engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of electrical engineering design as a Senior or Lead Engineer, including conceptual studies and design analyses.
  • Meet with clients to prepare and validate proposed scope of work for energy design electrical engineering services.
  • Provide oversight and coordination of energy electrical engineering projects and ensure alignment with client goals and deadlines.
  • Coordinate and communicate all aspects of energy electrical design within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Direct, supervise, and train electrical engineers, EITs, and designers, ensuring quality control.
  • Prepare and supervise the preparation of accurate energy electrical project programming and construction documents.
  • Perform electrical engineering support services during the bidding process, including responding to RFIs.
  • Direct electrical engineering construction phase services, including on-site representation and reviewing shop drawings.
  • Provide technical input to energy engineering design, including value engineering and industry best practices.
  • Mentor engineering staff to foster their professional development.
  • Support company marketing and business development activities, particularly for the Energy Consulting Team.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ABET-accredited engineering program in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam for certification as an EI/EIT is required.
  • Professional Engineering licensure in Electrical Engineering is desirable.
  • Minimum of 7 years of significant design and practice experience in a leadership role within an energy firm or multi-discipline A&E firm.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems and equipment selection for renewable energy sources and grid management.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to lead a team of electrical engineers and designers.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices and net-zero building principles.
  • Active participation in IEEE is desirable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SKM Power Tools or equivalent design software.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong experience in the design of medium-voltage power distribution and generation facilities.
  • Ability to prepare effective and concise documents and make presentations to various groups.
