About the position

The Electrical Engineer (Programming) position at Bonneville Power Administration focuses on providing technical system support, programming, and administration for critical Energy Management Systems (EMS). The role involves analyzing data, troubleshooting data quality issues, and collaborating with various organizations to meet customer requirements. The successful candidate will also be responsible for coding, testing, configuring, and maintaining applications to support business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data from its source through data flow paths to troubleshoot data quality issues.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with organizations to determine customer requirements effectively.
  • Code, test, configure, stage, migrate, maintain, and document various vendor and in-house applications to provide solutions that support business requirements.
  • Provide technical evaluation and recommendations on potential technology solutions.
  • Analyze system failures and work with system support staff to identify corrective actions and implement necessary changes.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-09 level in the Federal service for GS-11 applicants.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 level in the Federal service for GS-12 applicants.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
