About the position

The Electrical Engineer (EE) will be an integral part of the Deployment Engineering team at Vertiv, collaborating closely with the custom Project Engineering team. This team is responsible for the custom design of Power Modules and modular data centers within the Vertiv Infrastructure Solutions Line of Business (LOB). The role involves electrical design for custom projects, which encompasses high, medium, and low voltage systems, as well as fire alarm and control systems. The EE will be required to interact with various engineering disciplines, including architectural, structural, mechanical, and controls engineering, ensuring that all designs are tailored to meet the specific applications in the Americas. The focus will be on creating customized system designs, selecting appropriate components, performing calculations, and ensuring code compliance. In addition to design responsibilities, the Electrical Engineer will work closely with supply chain and manufacturing teams from the approval of the Conceptual Design (CD) through detailed design, production build, and deployment to the customer's site. This role requires the creation of workshop drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all electrical systems, including Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and DC Power designs, cable management systems, equipment layouts, and general arrangements. The EE will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes by collaborating with local agencies. The position demands a proactive approach to quality control during the integration of electrical systems, providing technical support during construction phases, and supporting the conceptual module design during the presales stage. The Electrical Engineer will also work with commissioning teams to test and validate the installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems. This role may involve travel to various sites for reviews and audits, as well as direct communication with customers to design optimal solutions for their needs. The successful candidate will be expected to offer creative and innovative solutions to the IMS Project Engineering team, aligning with Vertiv's core principles and strategic priorities.
