About the position

As an Electrical Engineer at Meta Reality Labs, you will be responsible for designing, building, and testing prototype electrical systems for future consumer experiences. This role involves working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to explore new concepts through fast iterative prototyping, focusing on high-volume consumer products in the AR/VR space. You will leverage your expertise in electrical design to contribute to the development of innovative technologies that enhance connectivity and user experience.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical development of highly complex subsystems or moderately complex systems under the direction of a technical lead
• Design schematics, direct board layout, conduct design reviews and draft design documentation
• Conduct feasibility studies and analysis to evaluate new technologies and components, proposing innovative solutions to enhance product performance and features
• Manage bring up and debug, support manufacturing and assembly build
• Collaborate in a team environment and work across engineering disciplines to develop systems and manage trade-offs across electronics, mechanics, optics, sensors, haptics, firmware, and software
• Evaluate vendor reference designs and transform these into custom solutions which meet product and form factor constraints
• Work in a distributed team environment
• Contribute to building and sustaining internal Meta community through recruitment, mentorship, allyship, and a commitment to Meta's diversity equity and inclusion goals
• Work autonomously and take initiative to manage individual and team priorities
• Travel both domestically and internationally

Requirements

• 4+ years of industry experience in electrical design
• BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
• Proven knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals
• Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence OrCAD, Altium or equivalent
• Experience working with oscilloscopes, high-speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, or function generators
• Experience with digital signal processing, real-time image processing, display engineering, camera modules, mobile SoC and PMIC, or Battery Management System
• Proven technical communication skills

Nice-to-haves

• 8+ years of industry experience in electrical design
• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
• Experience with high-speed signaling over MIPI C-PHY/D-PHY, PCIe, USB SS and UFS
• Experience with IMUs/sensor physical sensor systems with an understanding of calibration methods
• Experience with vision systems
• Experience with audio technologies
• Experience programming in languages like Python or C/C++
• Experience with circuit design in high-speed circuits, Verilog/FPGAs, microcontrollers, microprocessors, firmware, and programmable logic based development
• Experience designing for HDI flexible and rigid substrates for high volume cost optimized applications
• Experience developing manufacturing tests for high-volume consumer products
• Consumer Electronics experience and/or working within a mass production environment
