About the position

The Surgery & Robot Hardware team at Neuralink is seeking talented Electrical Engineers who are passionate about advancing the field of neurosurgery and the development of neurosurgical implants. This position involves a comprehensive range of responsibilities, including the design and integration of electrical systems for surgical robotics, supporting operating room equipment, and manufacturing custom consumables. The primary focus of this role will be on our custom robot system, which aims to fully automate the implantation of our N1 implant. As part of this innovative team, you will engage in designing and integrating various technologies, including a 9 DOF robot for electrode implantation, computing systems, vision systems, optical coherence tomography for tissue imaging, power electronics, and networking solutions. Safety systems such as emergency stops, interlocks, and collision avoidance hardware are also critical components of the design process. In addition to the core responsibilities of designing and integrating these advanced technologies, you will also be involved in the production of consumables, such as electropolished needles and laser-machined needle cartridges. Your role will encompass the entire lifecycle of custom electronics systems, from design and verification to overseeing the transition to production. This position offers a unique opportunity for autonomy and creativity, allowing you to take ownership of impactful projects, including actuator and robotics stage designs, end effectors for robots, image-capture pipelines, telemetry systems, networking architectures, and patient sensors and tools. As an Electrical Engineer on our team, you will be expected to leverage your expertise to contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions that will shape the future of neurosurgery. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of surgical procedures, ultimately improving patient outcomes and advancing the field of medical technology.
