About the position

As a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer at Lynk, you will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and optimization of electronics and RF hardware for nanosatellite systems. This position involves working collaboratively with other engineers to develop circuit boards, conduct testing, and ensure the successful integration of hardware and software components. Your work will directly contribute to advancing mobile broadband technology and improving connectivity for billions of people worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Design spacecraft bus and payload hardware including single-board computers, FPGAs, SoCs, processors, sensors, SDRs, LNAs, filters, amplifiers, etc.
  • Create circuit board schematics and layouts, select components, and utilize development boards to validate designs.
  • Assemble and test circuit boards, debugging as necessary to ensure functionality.
  • Develop firmware and test software for circuit boards designed.
  • Generate production-level tests for circuit boards and maintain technical documentation for designs.
  • Participate in design reviews and document failure analyses on problem areas and testing results.
  • Assist mechanical engineers with the integration of components into spacecraft, considering thermal requirements.
  • Support spacecraft payload integration, testing, and delivery to launch partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in circuit board design and development of discrete logic, signal conditioning, power circuits, and RF PCBs.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium.
  • Experience with circuit simulation using LTSpice or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with single-board computers, microcontrollers, FPGAs, GPUs, CPUs, SoCs, software-defined radios, RF components, and antennas.
  • Ability to read and understand datasheets for integrated circuits and complex components.
  • Working knowledge of electronic test equipment including logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience using Linux-based systems.
  • Recent participation in projects developing space payload hardware and software, preferably communications systems.
  • Programming proficiency in one or more languages (e.g., C++, C, Python, MATLAB).
  • Hands-on experience programming microcontrollers and integrating hardware and software systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with FPGA programming (VHDL or Verilog) and Altera or Xilinx FPGAs.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
