About the position

The Electrical Engineer supporting Wind Tunnel Infrastructure at Scientific Research Corporation will play a crucial role in overseeing the design, construction, and operation of hypersonic wind tunnels. This position requires a subject matter expert in electrical engineering, particularly in electrical power distribution and control systems, to ensure the successful execution of projects critical to the Department of Defense's modernization efforts in hypersonic test infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the performance of the contractors that are designing, building, and operating various hypersonic wind tunnels.
  • Contribute to the writing of contract documents, such as performance work statements (PWS).
  • Develop clear and concise contract documents that allow performers to meet government needs efficiently.
  • Monitor the contract performer during the design, construction, and operation of the infrastructure.
  • Utilize Microsoft Teams and SharePoint for communication and file management.
  • Follow administrative and sensitive data guidelines.
  • Contribute to monthly reports and project status briefings and memos.
  • Travel approximately 20% of the year to performer worksites to observe design, construction, and operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Subject matter expert in electrical power distribution, instrumentation, data, and control systems.
  • Broad familiarity with various MEP systems including electrical power distribution, high pressure air generation, compressors, boilers, and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with system engineering principles and their application to project management.
  • Knowledge of system safety, hazard analysis, and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Creative problem solver with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently without direct supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to hold a secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with hypersonic wind tunnels or other complex test and evaluation infrastructure.
  • Experience monitoring the performance of industrial facility construction and/or operation contractors.
  • Experience as an employee of a contractor performing industrial facility construction and/or operation.
  • Worked on Department of Defense or Federal Government infrastructure projects.
