About the position

Progress your engineering career in one of the key roles within Allianz Engineering Inspection Services. Our Engineer Surveyors are at the forefront of our business. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified electrician with a background in installation and/or fixed wiring inspection and testing to join Allianz Engineering, a division of one of the largest insurers and financial services companies in the world. As a newly recruited Engineer Surveyor at Allianz Engineering, you will automatically be enrolled onto our unrivalled induction-training programme to support your personal development. We have opportunities in the following location: Birmingham. You will carry out the Periodic Inspection & Test and complete the Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) for all types of industrial and commercial installations such as offices, factories, quarries and their associated electrical apparatus. The role also includes the examination of Local Exhaust Ventilation systems (LEV) plant including air movers (fans), ducting, hoods, and filtration systems to control fumes, dust and mists created by both industrial and commercial processes. Full internal and external training will be provided. You will work closely with your Engineer Surveyor Team managed by one of our Senior Operations Team Leaders. You will prepare reports of examination following your inspections using electronic reporting to ensure fast and efficient delivery to our clients. This role forms an integral part of our business, as you carry out hands-on inspections of various items of plant and equipment. The Engineer Surveyor role can be physically demanding and may require working at height, working in confined spaces, lifting, and climbing in both hot and cold conditions. It may also involve exposure to noise and dust, so you need to be happy being in a hands-on environment.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out the Periodic Inspection & Test and complete the Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) for industrial and commercial installations.
  • Examine Local Exhaust Ventilation systems (LEV) including air movers, ducting, hoods, and filtration systems.
  • Prepare reports of examination following inspections using electronic reporting.
  • Work closely with the Engineer Surveyor Team and Senior Operations Team Leaders.
  • Support and deputise for fellow Engineer Surveyors as required.

Requirements

  • Up to date knowledge of BS7671:2018 amendment 2.
  • Background in working with low voltage electrical installations.
  • Passionate about engineering and self-driven.
  • Strong customer interaction skills, including good oral and written communication skills.
  • Time management skills to independently organise work.
  • Holder of a full valid UK driving licence.
  • Competent in processing documentation and general administration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in LEV systems (full training will be provided).
  • Incorporated Engineer status (desirable but not essential).
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing or equivalent (preferred but not essential).
