About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at Fluor involves supporting facility project management activities, leading the design and implementation of electrical systems, and ensuring quality through testing and validation. The role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, including AC/DC theory, and the ability to develop risk mitigation strategies while coordinating with various stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Support facility project management activities throughout the life of a project
  • Support the start-up, testing, troubleshooting, and design of electrical systems
  • Demonstrate knowledge of AC/DC electronic theory and electrical systems found in buildings
  • Assist in developing capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs
  • Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects
  • Conduct field surveys and study maps, graphs, diagrams, and other data to identify and correct power system problems
  • Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems
  • Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications
  • Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications
  • Oversee and coordinate operations, maintenance, repair, and inspections of electrical equipment
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for electrical system-related activities
  • Coordinate activities with architecture, engineering, construction, and space planning efforts

Requirements

  • Must have an active (or ability to obtain and maintain) TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
  • Knowledge of AC/DC electronic theory and electrical systems
  • Ability to learn SKM power simulation and analysis software
  • Familiarity with IEEE recommendations
  • Experience in developing procedures for standby power generation and transfers
  • Ability to perform detailed calculations for conduit and cable sizing and panel schedules

Nice-to-haves

  • Interests in reliability availability and concurrent maintainability (RAM) of electrical facilities
  • Interests in data center and UPS operation
