About the position

ArcelorMittal, the world's leading steel and mining company, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Corpus Christi, TX. The ideal candidate will provide technical knowledge to assist maintenance and production personnel in implementing equipment and system improvements that align with the business goals of ArcelorMittal Texas HBI. This role is crucial in ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of our organization. In this position, you will be responsible for coordinating third-party engineering contracting services, from the scope definition phase to the close-out document phase. You will ensure that new deployments do not interfere with existing processes by actively participating in and analyzing the development phase. Regular updates to internal customers will be a key part of your responsibilities, as will preparing and presenting reports and findings based on collected data and trends. Safety is a top priority at ArcelorMittal, and you will be expected to observe safety protocols, review accident and incident reports, and assist in investigations as required. You will also maintain the company's technical documentation, ensuring it is updated and available for consultation. Your role will involve guaranteeing technical support for the project management group, from the feasibility study phase to the coordination of final acceptance tests, ensuring technical quality and proper documentation after changes. Additionally, you will establish the minimum technical requirements necessary for purchasing or modifying equipment and systems, maintaining technical standards based on national, international, or corporate guidelines. You will lead, support, and participate in improvement programs and project groups, supporting management in optimizing quality, cost, availability, and performance of equipment. Coordination and direction of personnel may also be required as part of your duties.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordinating third party engineering contracting services from the scope definition phase to the close out document phase, ensuring non-interference of new deployments in existing processes.
  • Provide regular updates to internal customers.
  • Prepare and present reports and findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Observe safety, review accident/incident reports and assist in investigations as required.
  • Maintain the company's technical documentation updated and available for consultation.
  • Guarantee technical support for the project management group from the feasibility study phase to the coordination of final acceptance tests, ensuring technical quality and correct documentation after changes.
  • Establish minimum technical requirements necessary to purchase or modify equipment and/or systems by maintaining technical standards based on national, international, or corporate standards.
  • Lead, support, participate in, and develop improvement programs and project groups.
  • Support management in optimizing quality, cost, availability, and performance of equipment.
  • Coordinate and direct personnel as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Advanced proficiency in English.
  • Technical writing skills required.
  • Experience providing technical support and consultancy in electrical and automation disciplines.
  • Knowledge of power systems, NEC, NFPA 70E, design and start-up of AC drive systems, design and programming of PLC and HMI based control systems, and reviewing and developing P&IDs.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint).

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years minimum of heavy industrial experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.
  • Ability to anticipate and adopt innovations in business-building digital and technology applications.
  • Experience building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
  • Knowledge of effective and efficient processes with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills working with professionals, operations personnel, and construction trades.
