About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at TJC and Associates is an upper-level role focused on the design and evaluation of complex electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities. This position offers the opportunity to work with a close-knit team in a hybrid work environment, balancing office and home work after an initial training period. The role involves significant responsibility in project planning, technical supervision, and ensuring engineering objectives are met while maintaining budget and schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with project planning, scoping, proposing, and staffing.
  • Trains and supervises the technical team.
  • Coordinates the technical activities of the team.
  • Manages the budget, design, QA/QC, and production of moderately complex projects.
  • Ensures that overall engineering objectives are met and progress is communicated.
  • Resolves operational issues and manages technical day-to-day staff activities to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Assists in the evaluation of project staff performance and provides feedback.
  • Prepares plans, specifications, and reports by producing advanced design calculations and performing technical analyses.
  • Collects technical data and information for analysis for electrical design tasks.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of all electrical codes and software used in the design of projects.
  • Develops electrical design reports, calculations, and drawings that incorporate current electrical design codes and standards.
  • Interacts with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to obtain necessary technical data for electrical designs.
  • Prepares project deliverables using company standards and practices, incorporating client requirements.

Requirements

  • 7-12 years of working experience in electrical engineering.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Master of Science Degree is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer License (P.E.) in California.
  • Project management experience.
  • Electrical engineering professional experience related to the design of power, lighting, and control systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or qualified to work in the U.S. without employer visa assistance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with multidisciplinary engineering groups such as mechanical, architectural, civil, and structural engineering.
