About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at Actalent involves designing and developing electrical systems and components, with a specific focus on magnetic components such as transformers, inductors, and reactors. The role requires performing detailed calculations, utilizing engineering design software, and coordinating various manufacturing and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications and customer requirements. The engineer will also conduct feasibility analyses, specify system components, and investigate equipment failures to provide recommendations for maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems and components, focusing on magnetic components such as transformers, inductors, and reactors.
  • Perform detailed calculations to establish standards and specifications.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering tasks.
  • Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Perform detailed analyses to assess designs' or applications' feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Research and test manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations to the maintenance crew.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field (master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer, ideally in the manufacturing sector, focusing on magnetic components.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering codes and safety standards.
  • Proficiency in CAD and other engineering design software.

Nice-to-haves

  • AutoCAD Electrical proficiency
  • Manufacturing process experience
  • Electrical design experience from scratch (custom designs per client)
  • Prior experience within a manufacturing environment.
