About the position

The Electrical Engineer position is responsible for executing all functions related to the Electrical Engineering Department and associated projects. The primary focus is on ensuring appropriate electrical design, development, and installation of electrical hardware and systems, while providing direction and support to the Electrical Design Group to effectively execute electrical designs, projects, and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Assume Electrical Engineering project lead to interface with customer and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Understand all project requirements, specifications and objectives.
  • Define Electrical and Instrumentation scope of work and develop all required specifications.
  • Execute quality management plan in accordance with ABEC standard procedures.
  • Conduct electrical estimating and forecasting.
  • Develop and coordinate design and/or manufacturing efforts to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in development of control panel layouts, electrical schematics, instrument and control loop drawings, assembly drawings and bill of materials.
  • Maintain organized project related records.
  • Develop hardware documentation including details, setup parameters and operations and maintenance manuals, and provide training to end user(s).
  • Provide technical support to customers, sales and marketing.
  • Evaluate and recommend electrical upgrades to existing equipment or systems as required.
  • Develop control hardware design specifications.
  • Support and assist customer field service requirements, both planned and unplanned.
  • Support commissioning, startup and customer quality testing as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to travel when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Ireland Honours Degree (Level 8) in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience with electrical power systems including 400/480 vac supply and motor control circuits.
  • Experience with electrical sizing requirements and various load calculations including short circuit, heat load, total power consumption.
  • Good understanding of PLC hardware application and usage.
  • Knowledge and understanding of process instrumentation.
  • Knowledgeable with NEC (NFPA 70) and UL508 standards.
  • Familiarity with European standards such as ATEX and IEC is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • AutoCAD, AutoCAD, Inventor EPlan Software a plus.
  • Familiarity with OEM work process and business model.
  • Interface with multi-disciplined engineering groups.
  • Experience with design application, specifying and selecting electrical components and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with instrument control loop drawings and I/O lists.
  • Awareness of and prior experience with implementing Continuous Improvement (CI) a plus.
