About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at Life Time Spa is a critical role within the Real Estate Team, which plays a significant part in the company's growth strategy. This team is dedicated to identifying the best properties and markets to expand Life Time's portfolio of Athletic Resort destinations. The role involves close collaboration with various teams, including Property Development, Architecture, Construction, and Operations, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and effectively. As part of this dynamic team, you will be surrounded by talented individuals who are passionate about their work and committed to delivering high-quality results. In this position, you will provide in-house functional engineering expertise specifically related to Electrical, Lighting, and Control Systems. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and developing standards that ensure consistent designs while also focusing on improving energy consumption across all projects. You will be tasked with developing a commissioning program and overseeing third-party commissioning consultants to ensure that all electrical systems meet Life Time's high standards. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, as you will need to evaluate existing systems and troubleshoot any issues that arise. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with various teams to understand their unique needs and provide integrated solutions. You will also be responsible for developing and analyzing energy models to recommend energy-saving strategies, which is essential for Life Time's commitment to sustainability. Additionally, you will perform construction administration services, which include responding to inquiries, reviewing installed conditions, and documenting any deficiencies. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain standards for Electrical, Lighting, and Automatic Control system design.
  • Coordinate with outside design consultants to provide consistent designs across multiple design firms.
  • Perform quality control reviews of progress prints and final construction documents for adherence to Life Time standards.
  • Coordinate with an outside commissioning consultant to develop and maintain a commissioning standard for electrical systems at new facilities.
  • Perform existing system evaluation and troubleshoot system issues when they arise.
  • Collaborate with Life Time Architecture to understand space program and business owner's unique needs, and provide integrated solutions.
  • Develop and analyze energy models for use in recommending energy saving strategies.
  • Collaborate with Life Time Construction to assist with mechanical equipment procurement and installation.
  • Collaborate with Life Time Facility Operations to ensure operational standards are adhered to as well as continually reviewed for improvement opportunities.
  • Perform construction administration services including responding to questions, reviewing and documenting installed conditions and deficiencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Electrical design from an accredited program
  • 3 to 5 years experience in system design with multiple types of building electrical systems
  • Experience with Commissioning and Energy Standards
  • 3+ years of experience of achieving budget goals
  • Ability to perform site investigation activities to document existing conditions, including traversing ladders for roof and ceiling space access
  • Experience with design of power distribution systems including load analysis, voltage drop, short circuit calculations
  • Experience with low voltage system design
  • Familiarity with industry Codes and Standards
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical disciplines

Nice-to-haves

  • Project management and construction administration experience
  • Familiarity with REVIT MEP, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office products, lighting design software Visual/AGI, Elum Tools
  • Experience with short circuit software analysis tools similar to SKM Systems Analysis, Inc. software
