About the position

Farnsworth Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Greenwood Village, CO, as well as in our St. Louis, MO, Peoria, and Champaign, IL offices. This position is ideal for an individual who is passionate about engineering and is eager to contribute to a variety of projects in the industrial, oil and gas, advanced manufacturing, and renewable energy sectors. As an Electrical Engineer, you will take on multi-project responsibilities that encompass full electrical design, including power distribution, controls, renewable energy systems, medium voltage systems, substations, lighting, and communications. In this role, you will engage in code research and application, conduct fieldwork to ascertain existing conditions, and develop preliminary schematics through to final designs. You will be responsible for performing calculations, specifying equipment, sizing, and layout, as well as coordinating with other production staff and engineering disciplines. Your duties will also include preparing accurate electrical system construction drawings and specifications, conducting submittal reviews, and managing construction administration. Additionally, you will perform power systems studies and interface with clients, contractors, and other disciplines while maintaining project design budgets and schedules. A key aspect of this role is mentoring designers and drafters, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their careers. You will report to an engineering manager who will also offer mentoring and training opportunities for your professional development and advancement. Responsibilities

  • Assume multi-project responsibilities for full Electrical design, including Power Distribution, Controls, Renewable Energy Systems, Medium Voltage Systems, Substations, Lighting and Communications.
  • Conduct code research and application.
  • Perform fieldwork to ascertain existing conditions.
  • Develop preliminary schematics through to final designs.
  • Carry out calculations and equipment specifications, sizing, and layout.
  • Coordinate with other production staff and engineering disciplines.
  • Prepare accurate Electrical system construction drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct submittal reviews and manage construction administration.
  • Perform power systems studies.
  • Interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors while maintaining project design budgets and schedules.

Requirements

  • Electrical engineer with 4-8 years of experience in technically complex system design.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering. EIT designation required, Professional Engineer License (PE) preferred.
  • Wide range of design experience, including industrial power distribution, controls and MV systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with others and work on multiple, simultaneous projects.
  • Ability to solve complex power engineering problems.
  • Experience in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of codes and standards associated with electrical power, including National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, and applicable IEEE Standards.
  • Ability to pass background checks and willingness to comply with immunization requirements that our industrial clients may require to access their facilities.
  • Ability to complete occasional travel to client sites in support of projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • NCEES Record holder preferred.
  • Knowledge of Navisworks software preferred.
  • Knowledge of SKM PowerTools, Easy Power and/or ETAP preferred.
