About the position

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer or experienced Electrical Technician to join our team in Sagle, Idaho. This role involves leading engineering projects that support and maintain electrical systems, particularly in the context of hydroelectric generation and utility services. The position offers a unique opportunity to work in a vibrant community while contributing to the mission of providing reliable service to our customers in northern Idaho and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects that support and maintain electrical systems, designing detailed drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for distribution and transmission systems, including substations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, providing engineering support across disciplines as needed.
  • Maintain operations of the hydroelectric project, providing necessary documentation, reporting, and inspections.
  • Conduct system studies including load flow, short circuit/arc-flash, and power factor analysis, and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Maintain and program system protection settings (Form6, SEL, Basler) and implement SCADA configurations.
  • Support supplemental field inspections and operations, such as infrared inspection of substation and field devices.
  • Conduct internal training and effectively communicate technical information to management and team members.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, RUS, and Cooperative standards, while staying updated on industry trends.
  • Assist in major storm/damage outage responses and afterhours duty coverage (3-5 weeks per year).

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering preferred, with 5+ years of electrical distribution experience (public or cooperative utility experience preferred).
  • Or, a degree in a related field with 8-10 years of experience in electrical engineering and power distribution.
  • Valid Idaho driver's license (or ability to obtain one).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
