About the position

Heidelberg Materials North America is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Fleetwood, PA. This full-time position is integral to the maintenance and project development of our electrical systems within the Cement Operations line of business. The Electrical Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational viability of the plant by evaluating and maintaining the proper functioning of all electrical and control systems. This position is not only about maintaining existing systems but also involves designing and implementing new electrical engineering projects that will enhance our operations and reduce costs. In this role, you will guide electricians and trades helpers in the repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical and control systems. You will collaborate with the Maintenance Planner to design and coordinate corrective maintenance projects, ensuring that all electrical projects are executed efficiently and effectively. Additionally, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising contractors for electrical projects, providing ongoing maintenance support to the plant across all shifts, and participating in the plant's on-call program. This may involve evaluating and determining the course of action for maintenance incidents after hours and on weekends, which at times may require your on-site supervision to resolve issues promptly. The Electrical Engineer will also support and consult with plant management in the field of electrical engineering, focusing on optimizing plant operations. Maintaining accurate records and updating technical documentation and drawings will be essential to ensure compliance and operational efficiency. Responsibilities

  • Guide electricians and trades helpers in the repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical and control systems.
  • Ensure the operational viability of the plant by evaluating and maintaining the proper functioning of all electrical and control systems.
  • Design and coordinate corrective maintenance projects in collaboration with the Maintenance Planner.
  • Design and implement electrical engineering projects.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors for electrical projects.
  • Support and consult plant management in the field of electrical engineering for the optimization of plant operation.
  • Maintain records and update technical documentation and drawings.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance support to the plant for all shifts by participating in the plant's on-call program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of electrical engineering experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in heavy manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Fluent with NEC, NFPA, and ISA CAD software.
  • Familiar with PLC/DCS and HMI architecture.
  • Good familiarity with the operation and maintenance of common electrical equipment such as power distribution systems, breakers, high voltage systems, air conditioning and pressurization systems, variable speed medium voltage drives/motors, transformers, switchgear, MCC equipment, and power monitoring and communication systems.
  • Thorough understanding of system analytical studies including short circuit, coordination, load flow, motor starting, and arc flash.
