About the position

As an Electrical Engineer at our Yazoo City, MS facility, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support for the plant's electrical and instrumentation systems. Your primary responsibilities will include developing designs, ensuring safety, and providing design input for various projects. This position may require occasional business trips to other CF Industries plants, allowing you to collaborate and share expertise across locations. You will be integral in maintaining the operational integrity of our systems, contributing to both immediate resolutions and long-term preventive and predictive maintenance programs. In this role, you will provide daily maintenance support to resolve plant issues, manage capital and expense projects, and develop engineering designs and budget requirements for reliability projects. You will supervise on-site contractors, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, budget constraints, quality control, and project schedules. Your expertise will be essential in reviewing engineering designs and maintenance work packages to ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and best practices, including instrumentation, electrical, and P&ID drawings. Additionally, you will oversee the Management of Change (MOC) process for instrumentation and electrical equipment changes, support project start-up and troubleshooting efforts, and collaborate with the DCS and engineering department on new field instrumentation upgrades. You will also be responsible for identifying training needs and opportunities to enhance skill levels within the team, as well as supporting site EHS activities to promote a safe working environment. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality in all engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily maintenance support to resolve plant issues and contribute to long-term preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
  • Manage Capital and Expense projects, including project authorization documentation.
  • Develop electrical and instrumentation engineering designs and budget requirements for reliability projects and maintenance programs.
  • Supervise on-site contractors for safety, budget, quality control, and schedules.
  • Review engineering designs and maintenance work packages for compliance with codes, standards, and best practices, including instrumentation, electrical, and P&ID drawings.
  • Oversee Management of Change (MOC) process for instrumentation and electrical equipment changes.
  • Support project start-up and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Collaborate with DCS and engineering department on new field instrumentation upgrades.
  • Identify training needs and opportunities to enhance skill levels.
  • Support site EHS activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Instrumentation or control engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited university.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in a chemical plant or refinery.
  • Experience in a chemical processing environment and Management of Change.
  • Ability to enter plant operating sites utilizing ladders and platforms more than 100 feet, entering confined spaces, utilizing all required personal protective equipment.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and effective team skills.
  • Proficiency in PC software applications, including Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook, and able to utilize electronic maintenance management software.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience as a project manager or project engineer working on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Knowledge of medium voltage (5-15kV) and low voltage electrical equipment, process instrumentation, valves, and analytical equipment.
  • Knowledge of industry codes & standards, including NFPA, API, IEEE, NEMA, UL, ANSI, NFPA 70E, etc.
  • Knowledge of control systems including distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), historians, and advanced process control functions is a plus.
