About the position

Santa Barbara Infrared, Inc. is currently seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer to join our team. This role is pivotal in executing the development of our next generation radiation detectors and portable sensors. The Sr. Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing mixed-signal electrical circuits and authoring the firmware embedded in these solutions. This position requires a strong background in electrical engineering and a passion for innovation in the field of infrared and electro-optical test instrumentation. In this role, you will develop embedded mixed-signal electrical solutions by executing electrical circuit design, writing embedded firmware, and architecting and leading product test programs. You will also conduct PCB layout and collaborate with sales, management, and customers to define new product requirements. Additionally, you will provide support to vendors and contractors throughout all stages of design development and prototype procurement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded mixed-signal electrical solutions by executing electrical circuit design.
  • Write embedded firmware for the developed solutions.
  • Architect and lead product test programs to ensure quality and performance.
  • Conduct PCB layout for new designs and modifications.
  • Collaborate with sales, management, and customers to define new product requirements.
  • Provide support to vendors and contractors through all stages of design development and prototype procurement.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in embedded design and the development of new products and solutions.
  • Experience with radiation detectors is desired.
  • Altium schematic capture and layout experience is desired.
  • Ability to work independently in a small company environment.
  • Due to US Export Control Regulations compliance, eligible candidates must be a US citizen, permanent resident, or a person who has been granted asylum; proper documentation required.
  • Must pass background, reference, and ITAR/EAR checks in addition to a pre-employment drug screen.
