About the position

The Electrical Engineer is a pivotal role within our Cedar Rapids, Iowa production facility, responsible for the maintenance and reliability of electrical systems. This position is highly visible and involves leading the electrical maintenance sub-team to ensure the safe and quality completion of all electrical work onsite. Reporting directly to the site Maintenance Manager, the Electrical Engineer will take charge of various critical functions, including serving as the Site Electrical Safety lead, which encompasses quality assurance of new electrical installations, maintaining the site arc flash study, providing technical guidance on electrical safe work practices, and training personnel on electrical safety protocols. In addition to safety leadership, the Electrical Engineer will act as the Site Electrical Design lead, providing technical support for site projects involving electrical distribution systems, including 12.5KV switchgear, distribution transformers, protective relays, motor control centers, motors, adjustable speed drives, and plant lighting. The role also includes leading and developing electrical standards, planning for reliability and maintenance of high-end electrical equipment, and overseeing electrical document control to ensure completed project handovers to the Resource Document Control Center. The Electrical Engineer will also spearhead initiatives aimed at energy savings, including power monitoring and engineering analyses to identify and implement performance and efficiency modifications to plant systems such as steam, electrical, high-temperature hot, and chilled water systems. This role requires reviewing and analyzing the demand versus consumption of utility commodities across the campus, making recommendations for efficiency improvements, cost savings, and better usage of resources. The ideal candidate will be proactive in project management and oversight of energy projects and initiatives, ensuring that the facility operates at optimal efficiency while adhering to safety and quality standards.
