About the position

As an Electrical Engineer at HDR, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the work of the electrical design team on large institutional and industrial projects. Your responsibilities will span from the schematic design development phase through to the contract document phase of projects. You will be expected to establish meetings and actively participate in reviews with various governing agencies to ensure code compliance. Your ability to coordinate workload effectively will be essential in completing project documentation on schedule. In this position, you will conduct work sessions at project sites in collaboration with the Project Manager and other disciplines, ensuring that all electrical documents are reviewed for potential conflicts with other disciplines. You will also be responsible for writing and editing electrical specifications, selecting equipment, and determining the appropriate electrical systems and devices for each project. Additionally, you will coordinate with and assist other affected disciplines with addenda, Requests for Information (RFIs), Construction Progress Reports (CPRs), and change orders, ensuring that all agreed-upon changes are incorporated into the project documents. Your role will also involve providing construction contract administration as needed and conducting Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators, or Technicians. You will be expected to perform other duties as necessary to support the team and the projects at hand.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work of the electrical design team on large institutional/industrial projects through the schematic design development and contract document phase.

  • Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.

  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents.
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed.
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field of study.
  • Experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired.
  • Strong computer skills, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and electrical design software.
